What is a Collective Noun?
A collective noun is the collection of persons or things taken together and spoken of as a whole. In simple words, a collective noun is a word or phrase that refers to a group of people or things as one entity.
Grammatically, a Collective Noun refers to a group of people or things as a singularity or one entity. Therefore when it comes to SUBJECT-VERB AGREEMENT, ‘Common Noun’ always refers to singularity or one entity. But, remember some exceptions are always there which you will be learning one by one in other posts.

- A crowd is gathering outside.
