What is a preposition?

The Preposition is a word that is placed before a NOUN or PRONOUN to indicate place direction, source, etc.

Prepositions are usually used before Noun Phrases.  They link a noun phrase with another noun phrase. Note that a preposition with a Noun phrase (NP) forms a Prepositional  Phrase.

In and Intoin’ denotes rest inside something. ‘into‘ denotes motion towards the inside or something.1. All the students are sitting in the classroom.
2. The ball fell into the well.
on and upon “On” is used for a surface. ‘upon‘ is used to indicate motion. 1. The notebook is on the table.
2. The cat jumped upon the table.
BetweenBetween is used for two-person, place, or things.1. The ball went between the player’s legs.
2. Rajveer lives somewhere between the university and the police station.
AmongAmong’ is used for more than two people, places, or things. 1. I tried to find you among the crowd but I could not find you.
2. Distribute the chocolates among the children.
